Leon Ames (born January 20, 1902 in Portland, Indiana; died October 12, 1993 in Los Angeles, California), born Leon Waycoff to the Russian family, was an American film actor.

He is virtually all widely remembered for swimming the total of fatherly numbers inside such titles as Meet Me in St. Louis (1944), Little Women (1949), and the 1950s sitcom Life with Father, but also appeared in notable roles in Murders in the Rue Morgue (1932), The Postman Always Rings Twice (1946) and Peyton Place (1957). His previous role wwhen as Kathleen Turner's grandfather around Peggy Sue Got Married (1986).

He served when president of the Screen Actors Guild, of which he was one of the initiation members, from either 1957 to 1958.

Ames died of the stroke in 1993.
